Blue Story release date and plot

First released in November 2019 to rave reviews and outbreaks of violence at some cinemas, Blue Story was added to Netflix in the UK on November 20th, 2021.

Directed by Rapman (Andrew Onwubolu), Blue Story tells the tale of best friends Marco and Timmy who are from different areas of London.

The two friends find themselves becoming enemies after they are dragged into a violent and insidious postcode war between two gangs based in Peckham and Deptford.

Will there be a Blue Story 2?

No plans have been announced for a Blue Story sequel at the time of writing.

However, while the fate of Blue Story 2 remains unclear, the original film’s ending heavily hints that a sequel could well be on the cards.

During the film’s end credits, we catch up with Tiny Madder and a group of Ghetto Boys as he vows to avenge Timmy’s death and to kill all of the Peckham Boys.

If a sequel was to happen, it likely wouldn’t be for some time though as writer and director Rapman has a number of projects lined up first.

Namely, another film for Paramount Pictures titled American Son, which is set to star Russell Crowe, as well as a film for Netflix which GRM Daily reports will be a science fiction film.

Real-life history offers potential for more

Not only does Blue Story’s mid-credits scene suggest that more could follow, but the real-life history of the Ghetto Boys and Peckham Boys gangs offers up much more story potential.

While the violence between the two gangs reached its peak in the mid-2000s, the feuding groups agreed to somewhat of a ceasefire in 2010, putting the worst of the violence behind them.

A potential sequel to Blue Story could well show the progression between Tiny Madder’s quest for revenge and the gangs’ eventual ceasefire.
