Thanksgiving comes hand-in-hand with Macy’s annual parade. This year marks the 95th event, seeing a wealth of celeb appearances and a star-studded performance lineup.
Over on Twitter, K-Pop fans are disappointed that music group BTS weren’t featured in the list of entertainers. But, were BTS supposed to be in Macy’s 2021 Thanksgiving parade? We’re unpacking everything that we know.

With all the BTS talk on Twitter, it had fans wondering if the group were supposed to be in Macy’s 2021 parade.
In short, it doesn’t look as though there was ever a plan for BTS to perform in the event – but fans really, really wanted them to.
One fan tweeted: “they should’ve had bts in the thanksgiving parade wtf r they doing rn.”
Another wrote: “my mom was like WHAT IF BTS ARE AT THE THANKSGIVING PARADE girl give it up youre a stan bc i wasnt even thinking this.”
Somebody else took to Twitter: “What if BTS perform on the thanksgiving day parade.”
The boys have been in the US recently, so the idea of a BTS performance wasn’t too outlandish. Here’s to hoping they’ll make an appearance next year!
Has a K-Pop group performed at the parade before?
Back in 2019, NCT 127 made history by being the first K-Pop group to perform at Macy’s Thanksgiving parade.
The group rode through NYC on a LEGO float, performing fan favourite ‘Highway to Heaven’.
Who is performing at the Macy’s event?
Other than aespa, watchers of the parade can expect to see the likes of Carrie Underwood, Jon Batiste, Nelly, Andy Grammer, and Foreigner.
Kelly Rowland, Jimmie Allen, Kristin Chenoweth, and Rob Thomas will also be joining.
