Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Rennes playmaker Lovro Majer – who has been likened to former Spurs ace Luka Modric.

That’s according to French news outlet Homme du Match, who claim that Tottenham are keen to lure Majer to North London.

It’s claimed that a January move is unlikely, but Majer could leave Rennes for England at the end of the season.

Majer is allegedly ‘at the top’ of Tottenham’s list of priorities for the summer window with Fabio Paratici planning early.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also thought to fancy Majer, but it’s Tottenham leading the race.

Tottenham target Majer thriving amid Modric comparisons

If Tottenham sign a Croatian midfielder, you can guarantee that there will be comparisons to Luka Modric.

Majer is no stranger to that though. He has been compared to Modric for some time, even admitting it’s ‘nice’ to hear such things.

A former Dinamo Zagreb talent with a diminutive frame and outstanding technique, you can understand the likeness.

23-year-old Majer is a little more attacking though, and already has one goal and one assist in six Ligue 1 outings.

Majer only joined Rennes over the summer but could be flipped for quick profit to Tottenham.

If that proves to be the case, Majer would have the chance to emulate Modric again – and Tottenham fans would surely love if Majer could became even a fraction of the player Modric has been.
