Charlie Adam has said that Rangers would be lucky to receive just £6m this January for Alfredo Morelos after a disappointing first half of the season.

Speaking on the PLZ Football Show, the Dundee FC skipper claimed that the Colombian international will fetch a small transfer fee in the winter window. Just a few months after Morelos was tipped for a club-record departure from Rangers.

As per the Daily Record, Morelos was subject to a £16m bid from Lille. With Adam now believing that the Rangers star is now worth between £6m to £8m. The striker has scored just seven goals in all competitions.

Indeed, with the 25-year-old out of form, there are rumours that the striker could be on the move for good in January. And to Adam, Rangers will be lucky to secure an £8m transfer fee for Morelos in the winter.

The former Stoke City star said: “I think he is miles away from it. Maybe the hunger is gone. When he is playing well, throwing people around and bullying them, playing off the shoulder, he is a hand full.

Adam added: “Rangers will be hoping he can get back to that sooner rather than later, and a new manager coming in might just have to tell him a few harsh words and ignite something. Because he is a goalscorer I think he will get interest. You’re talking £6m, £8m maybe.”

£8m valuation from Adam is an insult to Rangers and Morelos

Morelos has indeed been out of form this season, with the striker scoring just four goals in the SPL after 11 matches. However, to say the attacker is worth under £10m for this slight blip in his career is a poor judgement from Adam.

After all, this is a player who has dominated Scotland for the past few years and was key to Rangers winning the SPL last season and their impressive run in Europe. And a few weeks of poor form doesn’t change the valuation the Scottish giants have for the Colombian star.
