Manchester City eased past Lionel Messi’s PSG side last night 2-1 as the Premier League giants booked their place in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Kylian Mbappe’s opener was cancelled out by Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus as City cruised past PSG in a game where the likes of Messi and Neymar were ineffective on the night.

Indeed, it was a sold-out night at the Etihad as fans flocked to see City take on Messi and company. With the PSG star having another night to forget for the Ligue 1 giants.

Yet there was a moment during the match that City supporters loved to see, as Messi embraced Sterling moments before kick-off. With the England international going on to score the key goal that got the hosts back into the fixture.

Whilst Messi did manage to get a trademarked nutmeg off on Sterling. But aside from that, it was a night that belonged to the City winger as the Manchester side tore PSG apart.

Indeed, whilst it was City’s night, fans on social media loved what they saw from Messi and Sterling post-match. With the England international clearly a player who the PSG star respects.
