Rangers are back in action tonight as they take on Sparta Prague in the Europa League, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst taking charge for the first time.
Rangers were beaten 3-1 by Hibernian on Sunday as Van Bronckhorst watched on from the stands.
The Dutchman won’t have been impressed with that display and now takes the reins himself.
Many are excited to see Van Bronckhorst’s Rangers in action, and guessing his first XI isn’t easy.
Let’s have a go though – here’s our predicted Rangers lineup for tonight’s game at Ibrox…
Rangers predicted lineup v Sparta Prague
Van Bronckhorst will immediately be tasked with picking Allan McGregor or Jon McLaughlin in goal.
We would back McLaughlin for the starting role tonight, with McGregor not quite at his best this term.
Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun will likely start at centre back given a lack of other quality options right now.
James Tavernier is likely to be the right back, whilst we’re tipping Borna Barisic to get the nod over Calvin Bassey at left back.
We fancy Van Bronckhorst to go with a midfield three, just as he did for most of his time at Feyenoord.
Glen Kamara is likely to start, but Scott Arfield may lose his place despite his goal against Hibernian.
We’ll go with Ryan Jack to come in for Arfield, joining Kamara and Aribo in the engine room, edging out Steven Davis and John Lundstram.
Ianis Hagi should be in the side and may operate on the right, with Ryan Kent on the left flank.
Fashion Sakala is pushing for a start whilst Kemar Roofe is doubtful through injury, but we will back Alfredo Morelos to lead the line.
That would leave the likes of McGregor, Jack Simpson, Nathan Patterson, Bassey, Lundstram, Davis, Arfield, Juninho Bacuna, Scott Wright and Sakala to fight for places on the bench, alongside Robby McCrorie.
Leaving veterans McGregor and Davis – two Steven Gerrard signings – out of the team is a big call, but it’s a gamble that may be worth taking.
Rangers predicted starting XI: McLaughlin; Tavernier, Goldson, Balogun, Barisic; Jack, Kamara, Aribo; Hagi, Kent, Morelos.
