Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Christopher Nkunku scored once again last night in a 5-0 win in the Champions League.

What’s the story?

Firstly, you may be wondering why this concerns Arsenal fans.

Well, back in 2019, Unai Emery wanted to bring the Frenchman to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners tried, and failed, to sign Nkunku in January 2019 before opting to move for Denis Suarez, ahead of another attempt in the summer.

However, as per the Evening Standard, Paris Saint-Germain wanted £17.2m for the 24-year-old, which Arsenal were not prepared to pay.

It was said that Emery was driving the interest in Nkunku, having brought the attacking midfielder through the youth ranks while at PSG.

It’s safe to say Arsenal missed out on a gem in Nkunku.

So far this season, the RB Leipzig No.18 has scored 13 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions.

Nkunku has also provided eight assists, in what has been a phenomenal campaign so far.

It comes after he scored seven goals and registered 11 assists last season.

Incredibly, seven of his 13 goals this season have come in the Champions League, the most elite level of club competition.

Clearly, Nkunku has made a huge leap in terms of progress this term.

Arsenal will hope his rise to stardom slows down a bit, or else they’ll look rather silly for not paying the £17.2m sum for Emery’s desired target.

For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about Nkunku…
