Jamie Carragher took to Twitter last night before Liverpool faced FC Porto in the Champions League, where he tweeted about Tyler Morton.

What’s the story?

Well, the 19-year-old was handed his Champions League debut by Jürgen Klopp last night, as the Reds won 2-0 at Anfield.

The teenager played all 90 minutes against the Portuguese giants, and impressed in what was his first taste of European football.

Before kick-off, Carragher wished Morton good luck, before describing him as a player whose technique is ‘very good’.

You can see the 43-year-old’s tweet in full below.

What a special night for Morton.

The Kirkby Academy graduate had only just made his Premier League debut against Arsenal on Sunday, so it’s been quite a week for the wonderkid.

In two very tough tests, he has done himself proud.

In our view, Morton looked like he’d been playing at this level for years – he seemed very comfortable in the middle of the park.

As WhoScored shows, Liverpool’s No.80 asserted himself physically by winning three aerial duels and two successful tackles.

Morton also made two clearances, as well as two interceptions.

One of those interceptions was crucial, as it prevented FC Porto from scoring a simple chance after Mehdi Taremi squared to his teammate.

In total, Morton completed 41 passes, with a success rate of 82.9%.

Alongside Thiago, he didn’t look phased by the occasion one bit.

After Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Carragher himself, it looks like Liverpool have produced yet another gem.
