Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Antonio Conte has delivered an update on Cristian Romero’s injury.
The centre-back went down with a hamstring problem while he was on international duty with Argentina, and it seems as though his injury is rather serious.
Indeed, Conte says that while Tottenham are still waiting for the results of another scan, he believes that the Argentine has a serious problem, stating that his injury is more severe than the ones suffered by Giovani Lo Celso and Dane Scarlett.
What’s been said about Romero?
Conte gave an update on Romero’s fitness.
“We are waiting for another scan. I think his injury is a bit serious and we have to wait. It’s an injury that is more serious than Lo Celso and Scarlett,” Conte said.

Blow
This is a serious blow for Tottenham.
Romero really hasn’t been able to find any sort of form since joining Spurs. He’s had a tumultuous time filled with injuries, quarantining and managerial changes.
This is a defender who was touted to be one of the best in Serie A last season, but we’ve simply not seen enough of him this term.
Conte is apparently desperate to bring in some new defenders in January, but perhaps he wouldn’t need to reinforce the backline if he could rely on Romero.
Sadly, it looks as though the Argentine may be out of action for quite some time.
