Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react after watching footage of Illan Meslier and Dani van den Heuvel messing around at Thorp Arch.

What’s the story?

Well, the 11-second footage shows Meslier slide in to tackle Van der Heuvel in training, leaving the young Dutchman on a heap in the floor.

Meslier then slots the ball into an empty net, before running off to celebrate with a fist pump.

One fan jokingly said that the £22,000-a-week glovesman’s efforts were better than what Tyler Roberts offers in attack.

Another fan also said that Patrick Bamford will be left sweating after seeing Meslier’s goal, in jovial fashion of course.

It’s good to see the players enjoying themselves in training at Thorp Arch, and it’s especially great to see Meslier making the 18-year-old Van der Heuvel feel comfortable by messing around with him.

Leeds need Luke Ayling and Robin Koch back to help Illan Meslier

So far this season, the French wonderkid hasn’t looked as imperious in between the sticks as he did last term.

In his debut campaign in the Premier League, Meslier kept 11 clean sheets, breaking Joe Hart’s record of youngest shot-stopper to keep ten Premier League clean sheets along the way.

However, the 21-year-old has only kept one clean sheet in the Premier League this season, conceding 20 goals in 12 appearances.

In fairness to Meslier, Marcelo Bielsa needs Robin Koch and Luke Ayling back, to help provide some steel to the backline.

There has been plenty of chopping and changing in defence for Leeds this term, which doesn’t help Meslier build up an understanding with his backline.

For now, let’s see what the Leeds fans on Twitter have been saying about the 11-second footage from Thorp Arch…
