It’s no secret that Raphinha was on the Reds’ radar this summer, but Romano says that the Merseyside club were put off by the winger’s price tag, claiming that Leeds wanted more than £60m for him.
However, Romano says that the Brazilian could be one of the players the Reds go for this summer if they decide to bolster their attack.
What’s been said about Raphinha?
Romano spoke about Raphinha’s situation.
“I would keep an eye on the situation of Liverpool. They wanted him last summer. He was one of their targets. They wanted to sign a winger but it was impossible to sign him because Leeds wanted to keep him and the price was too high, it was more than £60m,” Romano said.
“I think the player is very special, so if Liverpool want to decide to go big for a winger in the summer, he could be one of the names. The boy wants to be at a top, top level. It’s going to be an open race. But Liverpool are keeping an eye on this boy for a long time.”
Raphinha would be a fantastic fit for this Liverpool team.
He certainly has the pace and the energy to play on the wing in a Jurgen Klopp system, while this season has proven that he also has that clinical edge.
Of course, he needs to up his goalscoring numbers if he’s going to be a true alternative to Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane, but that’s something that could come in time.
This seems to be a situation to keep an eye on.
