Joe Biden won’t be spending Thanksgiving at the White House this year.

As per reports, the president and First Lady Jill have arrived in Nantucket to spend the holiday at the home of private equity billionaire David Rubenstein.

Joe Biden is spending Thanksgiving in Nantucket

Even the president likes to get away every now and then.

According to Forbes, Joe Biden arrived in Nantucket on Tuesday (November 23rd) ahead of Thanksgiving day.

The president and First Lady reportedly plan to see the holiday through with extended family while staying “at the home of their friend, David Rubenstein, as they have done previously.”

Who is David Rubenstein?

David Rubenstein, from Baltimore, is a private equity billionaire and owner of the home that Joe Biden and extended family are staying in over Thanksgiving.

Rubenstein will, reportedly, not be present at the Nantucket house because he’s traveling abroad.

The billionaire, referred to by the Biden’s as their friend, is the co-founder of the Carlyle Group. Rubenstein now serves as its non-executive co-chairman, Forbes reports.

Rubenstein’s bio reads: “David M. Rubenstein is a Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of The Carlyle Group, one of the world’s largest and most successful private investment firms. Mr. Rubenstein co-founded the firm in 1987. Since then, Carlyle has grown into a firm managing $260 billion from 29 offices around the world.

The Nantucket home-owner also serves as chairman of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

David Rubenstein’s bio also details that he is a 1970 magna cum laude graduate of Duke University, and also attended the University of Chicago Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review.

Likewise, David Rubenstein also has some political ties. As per reports, the billionaire spent time as a White House official under President Jimmy Carter before entering private equity.

Forbes estimates Rubenstein’s net worth to be around $4.5 billion.
