What is the Super Crooks anime series?

Super Crooks is an upcoming anime series based on Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Kingsman: Secret Service, Jupiter’s Legacy) and Leinil Francis Yu’s (Wolverine, X-Men, New Avengers) hit four-part comic book series.

The series tells the story of a small-time crook called Johnny Bolt, who is desperate to make one-last big heist succeed so he can retire with his partner Kasey.

Bolt forms a team of supervillains to complete the mission, but will the worlds ‘heroes’ be able to stop out main character from pulling off the heist to end all heists?

“Johnny Bolt recruits a group of ragtag supervillains for one last heist. Their target: A ruthless super-powered crime boss. What can go wrong?” – Synopsis, via Netflix.

Super Crooks: Netflix release date and time

Season 1 of Super Crooks is currently scheduled to release around the world through the Netflix streaming platform on Thursday, November 25th.

The entire first season of Super Crooks will be launched on November 25th, with IMDB currently labelling the series as consisting of 13 individual episodes.

Super Crooks is expected to release at the following international times, per Netflix’s typical update window for new content:

  • Pacific Time: 12 AM
  • Eastern Time: 3 AM
  • British Time: 8 AM
  • European Time: 9 AM
  • India Time: 1:30 PM
  • Philippine Time: 4 PM
  • Australia Central Time: 6:30 PM

The upcoming television series is animated by the Studio Bones production company, who have created countless fan favourite titles such as SK8 the Infinity, Fullmetal Alchemist, Mob Psycho 100, Godzilla: Singular Point and of course, My Hero Academia.

However, it turns out that Super Crooks was not initially planned to be either a television series, or even an anime!

Speaking about the production process with Comic Book, Millar said that he “planned this [Super Crooks] as a kind of low-budget, European movie, but over the years, it kind of morphed into becoming an anime series.”

“I’m a massive animation fan, and I’m in love with Japan. I can’t really think of many examples of traditional American superhero characters done in a Japanese style. And it’s so cool, it’s just amazing because it’s two things I love being smashed together, which I think is really interesting.” – Mark Millar, via Comic Book.
