Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has admitted he isn’t in the least bit surprised by Kyogo Furuhashi’s start to life in Glasgow.

Postecoglou snapped up the 26-year-old from Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe during the summer.

And Kyogo has proven an absolute revelation at Celtic so far, netting 13 goals in all competitions.

Postecoglou, who worked in the J-League prior to joining the Hoops, spent only £4.6 million on him.

And the former Australia coach has revealed that some of his old players used to be worried about facing him in Asian football.

He told Open Goal: “I was the person least surprised by how well he adjusted. I witnessed it first hand. As a manager I was there [in Japan] for three years. Whenever we played against Vissel Kobe my defenders used to tell me he’d be the nightmare and that his movemenet was just ridiculous.”

Massive

Kyogo has already had his injury worries since joining Celtic.

But if the Hoops are going to overturn their four-point deficit to Rangers, and win the Premiership this season, he’s going to be absolutely massive.

Thirteen goals in 17 starts under Postecoglou is a sublime return thus far and if the Bhoys keep him fit, they have every chance of pipping Rangers to another league title.

Without him, well, Postecoglou’s side could struggle in a major way.

Postecoglou’s side resume their Premiership campaign with a visit of Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers – now under Giovanni van Bronckhorst – are away to Livingston earlier in the day.
