Disney+ has premiered the first two episodes of Hawkeye on the streaming platform, and fans can’t wait to see how the show will progress the MCU in the future. With the festive fun underway, viewers want to know if Kate Bishop is gay and more about her relationship history.

The fifth Marvel production on the small screen will see Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton passing the Hawkeye mantle over to Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop. Vera Farmiga, Alaqua Cox, and of course, Lucky the Pizza Dog, will also be on hand to channel the festive spirit.

Is Kate Bishop gay?

No, there is no evidence to suggest that Kate Bishop is a queer character in Marvel Comics or the Hawkeye series just yet.

However, some fans believe that the MCU will change this and make Kate either bisexual or pansexual, in order to create more inclusivity in the live-action franchise.

In the comic book series, Young Avengers, Kate states: “Am I the only straight one in the group?” This clearly states the character’s preference in the comic’s narrative.

Relationship history

If we’re taking the current West Coast Avengers series into account, Kate Bishop is currently dating Johhny Watts, a.k.a. Fuse. Kate’s ex-partner in that series is also known to be Noh-Varr, a.k.a. Marvel Boy, who appears to be entering into a relationship of his own with Kate’s current partner.

Young Avengers has also detailed Kate’s preference by seeing her involved in one-night stands.

However, fans have pointed out the character’s close relationship with America Chavez – who will be introduced in another live-action series in the future.

The pair have a relatively close relationship in the comics and many fans believe that this could trigger a queer relationship.

Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova’s ship

On a completely different note, Marvel fans have not been shy about their wish for Kate Bishop and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova to get together in the Hawkeye series.

While it is expected that Kate and Yelena will start off as enemies, many have already prophesied that this could present other opportunities in the future.

Yelena’s preference has not been spoken about in the MCU yet either, and fans may have to wait for the Young Avengers to appear within the MCU for any relationships to form.
