Tottenham Hotspur fans absolutely loved seeing evidence of Antonio Conte’s passion for their side already at the weekend.

What’s the story?

Spurs ran out 2-1 winners over Leeds United, but the three points were not easy to come by.

Tottenham had to fight back from behind to claim the victory, after what was an insipid first-half display.

Tottenham did manage to show their class eventually – but they certainly made their supporters sweat.

In the final moments Conte wanted more back from the Spurs crowd.

As the clock reached the 89th minute he gestured for all of Tottenham’s fans to lift the noise levels to get his side over the line.

Spurs fans responded in kind, as they created quite an atmosphere for the final stages of the game.

And Tottenham fans were just delighted to see a manager on the touchline who was prepared to wear his heart on his sleeve.

Big change

Going from Nuno to Conte could hardly be a bigger contrast for Tottenham.

Nuno often cut a rather dour figure in both interviews and in his demeanour on the touchline.

Conte is so active when watching his side play, though.

And while some of the greatest managers ever have been calm on the side of the pitch, it does seem like Conte’s energy is exactly what Tottenham need right now.

Too often Spurs have been accused of not putting in enough effort, or showing enough desire.

But that will no longer be tolerated under their new boss.

Tottenham’s players are having to work harder than ever to fit in with his demands, but already the results are proving positive.

Spurs’ win over Leeds has pushed them to the outskirts of the top four places, with only four points separating them from the Champions League qualification spots.
