Leicester U23 coach Ben Petty was left to rue a ‘ruthless’ performance from Tottenham Hotspur and a ‘fantastic’ Harvey White free-kick after Monday’s 4-1 Premier League 2 defeat, speaking to The Foxes website.

Returning to North London in the summer following a loan spell at Portsmouth, 20-year-old White certainly looks like a player ready to make the step up from youth-team football on a full-time basis.

In 15 games, he’s scored six goals and set up another five already this term – and we’re not even in December yet.

His first of a match-turning brace against Leicester on Monday was probably his best so far too; a wonderful free-kick dispatched into the top corner, clipping the underside of the crossbar on it’s way in just for added aesthetics.

“I think you saw Tottenham’s qualities; they were ruthless tonight,” sighed Petty, who’s side went in front before a stirring Spurs comeback.

“(Goalkeeper) Brad (Young) hasn’t actually had to make too many great saves but the free-kick just before half-time is a fantastic piece of skill.”

Will Harvey White and Markanday get a chance under Antonio Conte?

Dilan Markanday, the reigning Premier League 2 Player of the Month, cancelled out Leicester’s first-half opener with his tenth in just 16 matches this term.

Markanday admitted recently that he dreams of representing Tottenham ‘for the next 15 years’ – and he’s certainly going the right way if he wants to turn that dream into a reality.

White’s double, meanwhile, was sandwiched by an opportunist strike from defender Tobi Omole.

There was even time for a late penalty save from Thimothee Lo-Tutala, ensuring that Tottenham would cruise to a third win in their last four Premier League 2 matches.

“All credit goes to the players because, after the first 15 minutes, they’ve shown a real work ethic and a real consistency in their play,” reflects Spurs coach Wayne Burnett.

“It’s disappointing that we haven’t kept a clean sheet, but I’m really pleased to win so convincingly at what is a hard place to go. I think, across the last four games, we have played really well.

“The pleasing thing is that we’re starting to do that consistently. We played with a real air of authority.”
