Keanu Reeves’ fans want the actor to portray Ghost Rider in MCU and it seems like The Matrix Resurrections star is on board with the idea.

The internet is busy dicussing Keanu’s upcoming film The Matrix Resurrections lately.

Warner Bros. recently released eight new character posters for the upcoming movie that see the return of the franchises’ iconic characters as well as some new ones.

Stars like Jessica Henwick and Priyanka Chopra are the new additions to the film.

Fans want Keanu Reeves to play Ghost Rider

In a recent interview with Esquire, Keanu, 57, said that it would be an ‘honour’ to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as one of the iconic comic characters.

The star’s revelation sent Marvel fans reeling as many took to Twitter to rally for him to play Ghost Rider in a series or film.

For the unversed, Ghost Rider is a horror character from MCU. He is a human capable of transforming into a skeletal superhuman.

The most famous Ghost Rider character in MCU is stunt motorcyclist Johnathon Blaze.

“Keanu loves his motorcycles so it fits. Have him and Gabriel Luna’s: Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider play side by side, or just make a new origin for the character of Johnny,” one Marvel fan suggested on Twitter.

“Keanu literally owns a motorcycle company. If y’all don’t cast him as Ghost Rider there’s a problem,” another fan wrote.

Star expresses MCU ambitions

The Matrix star’s Esquire interview saw him talking about variety of subjects.

The actor discussed the upcoming promotional tour for The Matrix Resurrections and the filming of John Wick: Chapter 4, in Paris.

In the past Marvel boss Kevin Feige had revealed they consider Keanu for nearly every project they develop. It seems like this is a good time to cast him in the MCU as the actor expressed his ambitions of becoming a Marvel character.

“It would be an honor. There’s some really amazing directors and visionaries, and they’re doing something that no one’s really ever done,” Keanu said during the recent chat. “It’s special in that sense, in terms of the scale, the ambition, the production. So it would be cool to be a part of that.”

Exploring the Marvel character’s future

Back in October 2021, in an interview with Comic Book, Marvel Editor-in-Chief Roy Thomas said he doesn’t know if Ghost Rider will fight alongside the the Avengers anytime soon.

“The decision depends on the company (Marvel) rather than its writers,” the insider said. Depsite fans’ theorising the fate of the beloved character seems uncertain for now.

The Marvel bosses haven’t expressed a strong intention to make a series of film based on the superhero yet.
