Dancing with the Stars judge contracts covid

Only a week before the season finale of Dancing with the Stars, Derek Hough announced that he had contracted covid-19.

Ahead of the news, Hough had appeared on Monday night’s show on 15 November 2021.

Taking advice from medical professionals, the dancer immediately began quarantining and was therefore unable to attend the final episode of the live dance show.

Is Derek Hough vaccinated?

36-year-old Derek Hough was fully vaccinated when he tested positive for covid-19.

Announcing the news via an Instagram video, @derekhough recorded himself explaining that he had just received the unfortunate results:

“Even though I’ve been fully vaccinated, I’ve just been diagnosed with a breakthrough case of covid.”

According to CDC, a breakthrough infection is a covid case that occurs in someone who is fully vaccinated.

Derek continued to share information surrounding his wellbeing after contracting the virus:

“I just found out and I feel okay. I feel strong. But I’m currently taking advice from medical professionals to get better as fast as I can.”

After stating that he is now in quarantine, he confirmed that he would keep his followers updated and encouraged them to stay safe.

How did this affect the dancer?

While Hough confirmed that he felt well health-wise, the star sure has had to miss out on a lot of fun.

As a Dancing with the Stars judge, the dancer was unfortunately absent from the series finale on 22 November and instead attended virtually via a video call.

Stepping in for her brother, two-time DWTS champion Julianne Hough made her grand return to the show as a guest judge in the season finale.

Derek did however make a virtual appearance, sharing an update from quarantine and stating that he is feeling great.

@derekhough also shared his thoughts on the final episode in the caption of a recent Instagram post to congratulate the winning champions.

The final five No Limit Derek Hough shows in Vegas were rescheduled to December 15th-19th.
