Rangers lost 3-1 to Hibernian on Sunday, and the Ibrox faithful have been left absolutely stunned by comments from defender Connor Goldson.

Yes, Rangers are going through a difficult time after losing Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa.

That doesn’t excuse yet another failure in a big cup game.

Too often, Rangers came up short in semi-finals and finals of Scottish Cup competitions. The title win last season was great, but this cup record just isn’t good enough.

That’s something new boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst must look to fix after taking the Ibrox reins, but fans are far from happy.

After another capitulation, defender and vice-captain Goldson spoke very frankly, as did Scott Arfield.

Goldson suggested that Rangers had lost some hunger after their title win and weren’t putting in quite as much effort as before.

Goldson was critical of Rangers teammates for resting on their laurels and not following instructions.

The defender feels this has been going on all season, which is why Rangers haven’t hit top form this term.

Rangers fans are, somewhat unsurprisingly, furious with these comments.

Some believe that Goldson is ‘at the wrong club’ and should leave if his hunger has gone.

Others think his comments are ‘unforgivable’ and new boss Van Bronckhorst should bench Goldson or sell him, believing Rangers need a better mentality.
