Well, it’s fair to say Nuno Tavares struggled for Arsenal in a big way last night.
Arsenal lost 4-0 away to Liverpool, denting their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
Mikel Arteta made a big statement before the game by fielding Tavares at left-back instead of the more experienced Kieran Tierney.
And honestly, the gamble backfired for the Gunners boss.
That’s because Tavares had a relatively poor game and made a series of horrific passes, one of which directly led to Jurgen Klopp’s side scoring a goal.
After the game, the 21-year-old, who Arsenal paid £7 million for this past summer, looked devastated.
He was hunched over in disappointment in what looked a very sad moment for the youngster, but fans of the North London club have rallied in support of their boy in spite of his display.
Here’s how Arsenal fans reacted to the footage:
Inevitable
Performances like this are inevitable for Tavares.
It was only his fourth Premier League start since joining Arsenal from Benfica and remember, the reason Arteta started him is because he had looked absolutely brilliant in recent weeks.
This is a mere learning curve for the player and providing he uses it as motivation to improve, he’s going to be absolutely fine in English football.
