Hibernian have pulled off an impressive move by tying Josh Doig down to a new contract after links to Arsenal and West Ham United.
Hibs have seen Doig emerge as a first-team player at Easter Road and now one of the top young talents in Scotland.
The 19-year-old left back featured 35 times for Hibs last season, a remarkable rise having been out on loan at Queen’s Park in 2020.
Doig adjusted to life in the top flight perfectly – and became a wanted man as a result.
Arsenal and West Ham United were both interested in luring Doig away from Hibernian over the summer.
The London Evening Standard reported that Arsenal and West Ham both wanted Doig’s asking price to be halved in order to do a deal.
However, Hibernian stood firm and kept hold of Doig.
That decision has now paid off, as Hibs have now managed to convince Doig to stay for a while yet.

Hibs confirmed on Saturday that Doig has now extended his contract with Hibs until 2026.
Maybe this just means that Hibernian can demand a higher fee for their young star.
Yer for Hibs fans, this means so much. This means that an exit in 2022 looks unlikely, and they get to see Doig in action for a little while longer.
Arsenal and West Ham may come calling again one day, but Hibs have that added protection after this new deal.
