Michael Dawson has raved about reported Newcastle United target and Leicester City central defender Wesley Fofana on Sky Sports News (12:13pm, November 20, 2021).

The Sky Sports pundit has said that he is a big fan of Fofana, linked with a move to Newcastle.

The former Tottenham Hotspur defender has said that the 20-year-old French centre-back is exceptional.

Newcastle interest in Wesley Fofana

French news outlet RMC Sport claimed last month that Newcastle have made contact with Fofana’s representatives.

The report added that the Magpies, now owned by PIF, could make an offer within weeks.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

Encouraging for Newcastle United

Dawson is retired now.

But we know that he was a quality central defender during his time at Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and Hull City.

The Sky Sports pundit saying that Fofana is “exceptional” is very encouraging for Newcastle.

It shows how highly the Frenchman is rated in the footballing community.

And, let’s not forget, the Leicester defender is still only 20.

However, in our view, Leicester are not going to sell the defender in the January transfer window.

The former Premier League champions are not struggling for money and will still have aspirations of finishing in the top four.

The defender is injured at the moment, and he himself may not be willing to switch clubs in January.
