Rangers left back Borna Barisic could end up following Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa with an £8million January bid being prepared.
That’s according to The Sunday Mirror (21/11, p72), who claim that Gerrard wants to reunite with Barisic at Villa Park.
With The Sun claiming that Gerrard is desperate to add another left back to the Villa squad, this could add up.
Gerrard signed Barisic for just £2million at Rangers, luring him to Ibrox from Osijek back in 2018.
The Croatian could now cost four times that amount – and that’s if Villa’s first bid is even accepted.
It’s still some way shy of what Gerrard predicted in 2020 though.
With interest from the Premier League, Gerrard claimed that Barisic would only be sold for ‘an awful lot of money’.
Does £8million really match that criteria? Probably not, and Rangers would be loathe to sell to Gerrard just days after leaving Ibrox.

Gerrard is allegedly reluctant to raid Rangers, but believes Barisic is the perfect man to bring to Villa.
Villa do have a left back already in Matt Targett, but Barisic would add real quality in that area of the pitch as competition for the starting role.
Barisic, 29, has racked up seven goals and a superb 34 assists in 125 games for Rangers, so it’s no surprise Gerrard fancies him again.
Rangers may soon face a decision on Barisic, whose value may only decrease as he approaches his 30’s.
