It’s that time again. The dreaded “H” word.

By that, we mean that The Blacklist fans have another hiatus to endure before tuning in to the next installment.

Created by Jon Bokenkamp, the American crime-thriller premiered on NBC in 2013 and swiftly swept audiences up in its tale of James Spader’s Raymond “Red” Reddington. The former U.S. Navy officer turned criminal surrenders to the FBI and agrees to share the names of others at large for immunity.

It’s been a wild ride across its eight-year run, to say the least, and fans are thoroughly enjoying the latest season, albeit still coming to terms with some significant changes.

To make sure you don’t miss out, let’s address The Blacklist season 9 episode 6 air date.

The Blacklist season 9 episode 6 air date

Episode 6 of The Blacklist season 9 is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, December 9th 2021 at 8 pm ET on NBC.

Not that cable is the only way to watch it…

For those without, you can check in on the action with NBC on a live TV service; these include Sling TV, FuboTV, Hulu With Live TV, YouTube TV, DirecTV etc.

It has already been titled ‘Dr. Roberta Sand, Ph.D.’

As for the reasons behind the hiatus, it’s common for networks to space out episodes with breaks to ensure the batch lasts for the entire season’s schedule. However, it’s also likely that Thanksgiving influenced the decision.

With that in mind, The Blacklist won’t be the only show to return to screens a little later than expected.

How many episodes in The Blacklist season 9?

Although an exact total is yet to be confirmed by the network, we believe it will likely consist of 22 episodes.

This is the same amount as season 8, as well as a number of other previous seasons.

If it’s less, on the other hand, it’s hard to imagine it being reduced by much.

Taking this into consideration, it’s uncertain when the finale will reach audiences. It ultimately depends on the amount and how many hiatuses we’ll get.

Our prediction is that things will wrap up around late March or early April. Either way, there’s still plenty more to look forward to.

“Liz’s death has changed everything”

The season has arguably felt very different to others as a direct result of Liz’s absence, which executive producer John Eisendrath teased before it even began:

“Liz’s death has changed everything. Red has disappeared and criminals have filled the void. The team has broken up and two years have passed. Then Dembe’s life is put at risk, the team regroups to help him — and the SOS goes out to Reddington.”

He added: “His return signals a new beginning as well as a chance to settle his biggest score.”

The question now is where are we headed? We’ll just have to wait (a little longer) and see.

The Blacklist returns on Thursday, December 9th 2021 at 8 pm ET on NBC.
