Arsenal fans are sensing that a swap deal for Franck Kessie has just become a possibility.
What’s the story?
Il Milanista claim that AC Milan have made Nicolas Pepe their top target before the January transfer window.
It is reported that the Italian side could try and poach the winger from Arsenal in the new year.
Most Gunners fans are receptive to that idea, as they are eyeing up a deal which could benefit them.
Kessie has just months remaining on his contract with Milan, and looks set to leave on a free transfer in the summer.
But Arsenal could avoid all competition for his signature if they are able to agree a deal ahead of time.
That is where Arsenal fans’ cunning plan comes in.
They say that Edu and Mikel Arteta should use Milan’s interest in Pepe to their advantage and get Kessie thrown into the deal.
That would give them the chance to land the powerful midfielder before the competition arrives.
And there is a real sense among supporters that a swap deal could be a possibility in a couple of months.
Could the deal happen?
In fairness, the swap deal does look like one which could benefit all parties.
Pepe is not really pushing for a spot in Arsenal’s team right now, but Kessie could be a regular starter if he was to join.
The 24-year-old has been one of Serie A’s best midfielders in recent times, and he could certainly fill a gap in their squad.
There have also been reports of Arsenal’s interest before.
And it will be interesting to see whether a trade deal is something which Edu feels is a possibility when the transfer window opens up again.
