Speaking on the Official Leeds United Podcast, Jermaine Beckford has been speaking about the Whites’ record signing Rodrigo.

The Spaniard has been somewhat underwhelming since joining Leeds last summer, but in recent weeks, he’s really stepped up in the absence of Patrick Bamford.

It’s not just at club level where Rodrigo has impressed either, the former Valencia man has also been starring for the Spanish national team over the past fortnight.

Beckford has been very impressed by what he’s seen from Rodrigo, and while he says that he wasn’t fit enough last season, he claims that he’s showing why Leeds paid £27m for him this term.

What’s been said?

Beckford gave his view on Rodrigo.

“Rodrigo for me is one of those players. You can see the quality that he has, you can see the energy that he has and you can see his technical ability is brilliant. I just felt his fitness levels weren’t up to scratch, but now he’s had a run of games you can see what he’s about. This is the Rodrigo that we signed, you’re seeing it for us and you’re also seeing it for Spain. I’m so happy for him, he’s looking the real deal now,” Beckford said.

Getting better

Whether or not you think Rodrigo is proving himself to be worth the huge fee Leeds paid for him is up for debate, but one thing is for sure, he is improving.

Sometimes it can take a little while for a player to adapt to English football, and it seems as though Rodrigo has finally gotten to grips with the Premier League

Leeds haven’t had the best season so far, but if Rodrigo keeps up his recent form it may not be long before the Whites start to move up the table.
