Shamrock Rovers are not aware of any interest from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in star midfielder Danny Mandroiu, head coach Stephen Bradley tells The 42.

Earlier this week, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou admitted that he was hoping to add some much-needed depth to his Hoops squad during the upcoming January transfer window.

Now, Postecoglou stopped short of explaining exactly which positions he wanted to strengthen – but we can make a few educated guesses.

A new left-back is a must, of course, with Greg Taylor’s injury woes forcing Josip Juranovic to fill in on the opposite flank.

A more reliable back-up option for Joe Hart between the sticks would be well received too, amid reported interest in Brest ‘keeper Marco Bizot.

And while it may seem a little strange to suggest that Celtic would benefit from some added cutting edge – no team in the Premiership has scored more than them after all (30 goals in 13 games) – look a little closer you’ll see that the Glasgow giants are not exactly overloaded with options in attacking midfield either.

Could Danny Mandroiu join Celtic in the January transfer window?

Celtic failed to replace Ryan Christie and Olivier Ntcham last summer, meaning Postecoglou is worryingly reliant on his twinkle-toed ‘twin eights’ – Tom Rogic and David Turnbull.

So while reported interest in Shamrock Rovers star Danny Mandriou raised a few eyebrows, no one was surprised to learn that Celtic want to add some more creativity and thrust to their engine room (Scottish Sun).

But, according to Rovers coach Bradley, Celtic’s apparent interest remains a mystery as far as he is concerned.

“I’ve had zero interest off any club for Danny,” Bradley says of a 23-year-old who scored 15 goals from midfield last season.

“I’ve had zero contact from any club. He is, in my opinion, and obviously I’m a bit biased, in with (Rovers team-mate) Dylan (Watts) in being up there with probably (Bohemians’) Georgie Kelly as the three best players in this country this year.

“There’s going to be interest there, but I’ve had zero contact from any club regarding Danny.”

Celtic signed Mandroiu’s former Shamrock team-mate Liam Scales over the summer but the defender has not played a minute of Scottish Premiership football so far.
