Newcastle United are viewing Italy as the ideal market for January signings having targeted Thomas Strakosha, Stefan de Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic.

That’s according to The Times, who claim that the Magpies think Serie A will be the perfect market to target in January.

This comes after The Telegraph reported last week that Premier League clubs may refuse to deal with Newcastle.

That report suggested that Premier League rivals will adopt an ‘anybody but Newcastle’ policy when it comes to selling players as they oppose the Magpies’ big takeover.

If true, linked players like Nathan Are, James Tarkowski, Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek could be difficult to sign.

That will leave Newcastle looking elsewhere, with Italy a potential market for the Magpies.

Potential Newcastle signings from Italy

The Times claim that Newcastle want Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.

The Sun reported earlier this month that Newcastle are targeting a pre-contract agreement for Strakosha in January.

The Albanian is out of contract at the end of the season and could agree a deal with Newcastle in the new year.

The same goes for midfielder Brozovic, who is out of contract at Inter Milan in 2022.

Newcastle need midfield additions and Brozovic, a relentless midfielder with real quality on the ball, could be a massive coup.

Inter defender De Vrij is also wanted, but he could be quite expensive for Newcastle to sign given that he is contract until 2025.

All three would be massive additions for Newcastle, but let’s see if PIF can actually pull all three deals off.
