Speaking on the Ringer FC Podcast, Jamie Carragher has been waxing-lyrical about Emile Smith Rowe and Arsenal’s approach to youth.
The Gunners have done a brilliant job at focusing on young players ever since Mikel Arteta’s arrival at the club.
Indeed, the north London club have brought through the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, while they’ve spent big on young English players like Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale.
Carragher has been full of praise for this philosophy, claiming that he wants Smith Rowe to score every time he watches him play.
What’s been said?
Carragher was speaking about Arsenal and their young talents.
“When you put young players in, no matter who you are, you can get behind it. You can accept certain performances, certain results at certain times because of the age. That will go eventually, of course, as they get older, but I love Saka, I love Smith Rowe and when you like someone and you do the job I do, when you go to a game you hope they do well and you hope they win,” Carragher said.
“I was glad Emile Smith Rowe got on the scoresheet for England. I really like watching him play, and when I watch him play I hope he scores because I really enjoy him.”

So likeable
Arsenal may not be everyone’s favourite club, but it’s impossible to hate the way they’re approaching giving young players a chance as of late.
Smith Rowe, Saka, White and Ramsdale are all great fun to watch and it’s hard not to root for them whenever they’re on the ball.
Of course, Tottenham fans may disagree, but Arsenal are quickly becoming a neutrals favourite.
