Nigerian singer-songwriter David Adeleke better known as Davido has received over N80 million in cash transfers ahead of his birthday.

He has received money from celebrities including Perruzi, Teni, Adekunle Gold, Mr Eazi and Zlatan.

Davido asks fans for money on Twitter

Fans thought that the multi-award winning singer was joking when he posted a video to his Instagram story asking those who he had helped in the music industry to send him one million Naira.

Davido said: “We rise by lifting others abi? Me I don dey rise dey lifting others for the past 100 years. So I want to know who my friends are. All of my friends one million Naira. They said we are 30BG. If you don’t send your own. You out of here. You are gone.”

Davido also revealed that he wanted the funds to facilitate the clearance of his Rolls Royce at the ports.

He then posted his account number on his stories thread followed by several screenshots of money being sent to his bank account. Currently, the singer has received over N80 million which amounts to nearly $200,000 dollars.

Davido is a brand ambassador for multi-million dollar companies including AXE, Travelbeta and Pepsi. In 2012, the singer also signed an endorsement deal worth N30 million with MTN which is the largest mobile network in Africa.
