According to Sport Media Set, Newcastle have joined the race to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, one of the most in-demand players across Europe.
What’s the story?
Well, the 21-year-old is a rising star, and Newcastle are now interested in bringing him to St James’ Park.
Tchouameni has blossomed at Monaco this season, making 20 appearances in all competitions while scoring two goals.
Despite his age, he is arguably the most important player at Monaco, and his rapid rise in football has also seen him win seven caps for France.
Tchouameni’s efforts have also led to interest from Tottenham.
Calciomercato believe Antonio Conte is keen to bring the French wonderkid to Spurs, with Monaco aiming to receive £35m for their No.8.
That may seem like a lot to pay for a 21-year-old, but Tchouameni is no normal 21-year-old.
He has the potential to become the best in his position – one day, we’re sure that £35m will look like an utter bargain.
What could Aurelien Tchouameni offer Newcastle or Tottenham?

Despite his rising profile, Tchouameni is still far from a household name.
In that respect, you may appreciate a comparison.
Well, interestingly, Tchouameni has been likened to Paul Pogba.
The comparison was made by his former agent Gregoire Akcelrod, who told MARCA the story of how he met Tchouameni and eventually represented him.
He said: “In the summer of 2015, when he was 15 years old, a boy I represent tells me that his roommate wanted to see me and to represent him. I spoke to him, his name was Aurelien and he dazzled me with his maturity.
“He told me to go see him train. There was hardly any light and I noticed a boy with the yellow boots that I thought was him. He seemed like an ordinary player. I liked another one with the pink boots. I was about to leave, but out of courtesy I decided to stay. ‘This boy looks like Pogba’ , I thought of the one with the pink boots. When the training was over I went to say goodbye to him and, to my surprise, he was the owner of those pink boots.’I won the lottery!’ I thought.”

Pogba is among Europe’s best midfielders, so if Tchouameni is anything like the £89m Manchester United man, Newcastle and Tottenham should fight hard to sign him.
Keep an eye on this saga – as he continues to improve, we can’t see Tchouameni staying at Monaco for much longer.
