Ray Parlour can’t see Arsenal bringing Aaron Ramsey back to the Premier League with the Wales international struggling for opportunities at Serie A giants Juventus, speaking to talkSPORT (17 November, 9.30am).

Now, Arsenal do have a history when it comes to bringing fans’ favourites back home.

Sol Campbell enjoyed a brief renaissance at the Emirates a decade ago, returning to north London following that bizarre, one-game spell at Notts County.

Veteran goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, meanwhile, came out of retirement to (literally) save Wenger during an injury crisis in 2011.

And who could forget Thierry Henry’s Emirates-erupting winner against Leeds United in the FA Cup in 2012?

Arsenal legend Parlour, however, doesn’t believe history is about to repeat itself despite claims from the Daily Mail suggesting former Gunner Ramsey is determined to seal a Premier League return following three difficult years in Italy.

Could Arsenal bring back Aaron Ramsey from Juventus?

“I could see him back in the Premier League but I’m not so sure about Arsenal if I’m being honest,” says Parlour, pointing out Ramsey would have Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe for competition under Mikel Arteta.

“Whether (Arsenal) go back for their ex-player… sometimes they do. I know Arsene Wenger went back for Sol Campbell, Thierry was a big player coming back.

“But I don’t think they will. They’ve got enough players in that position now. Odegaard, what happens to him? They’ve just signed him from Real Madrid and he’s a very similar sort of player.

“I’d love to see (Ramsey) back. He’s a really good lad. I think he’s been excellent (for Wales). I’m sure, if he can keep going, he’s going to get 100 caps.”

Ramsey has made just three Serie A appearances under Max Allegri’s Juventus this season – totalling 97 minutes of action – and has recently been linked with a move to Everton and high-flying West Ham United.
