The promotion will be available on the McDonald’s app as part of the chain’s efforts to boost its nationwide rewards program.

The history of the sandwich

The sandwich was invented in 1972 by McDonald’s franchise owner Herb Peterson as a version of eggs Benedict, which includes English muffins, ham, eggs and Hollandaise sauce.

But Herb replaced the Hollandaise sauce with cheese and bacon, creating the famous sandwich on the go.

The Egg McMuffin was introduced nationwide in 1975 and became a staple breakfast choice for many customers.

The current sandwich includes an egg on an English muffin with melted cheese and bacon.

People react to the offer

Offers like these are worth to be mentioned and celebrated and this is what many Twitter users have been doing so far.

“Taking a trip to The States,” wrote one user, as another one added: “This is my sad face as I cry in my bed in the UK.”

“Week made,” tweeted another person, while another one wrote: “McDonald’s I’m going to buy 100 Egg McMuffins.”
