Leeds United were strongly linked with a move for Kouadio ‘Manu’ Kone in 2020 – and they may just live to regret missing out.
Back in October 2020, RMC Sport claimed that Leeds had made a first move for Kone by opening talks with Toulouse.
No deal was done at the time, but Leeds’ interest didn’t end there.
Tuttomercatoweb claimed in December that Leeds were still keen on signing Kone, who was being compared to Paul Pogba.
Corriere dello Sport even claimed that Marcelo Bielsa specifically told Leeds to sign Konae as he rated him very highly.
Kone did finally leave Toulouse earlier this year. Borussia Monchengladbach signed him in January before loaning him back to Toulouse.
This season, Kone has played six times in the Bundesliga and his huge potential is already being spotted.

Tuttosport now claim that Juventus fancy signing Kone, viewing him as an alternative target to Gladbach teammate Denis Zakaria.
Kone, 20, looks set for a huge future. Earning that move to Gladbach was big in itself, but to have a European super power like Juventus in for him is a massive compliment.
Leeds may still fancy Kone, but it’s increasingly looking like their window of opportunity has now gone.
