Filmmaker Taylor Sheridan, producer of fan favourite Yellowstone, is rumoured to have bought the iconic 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, Texas. Is this the new shooting location of the Yellowstone spin-off?
The new owner of 6666 Ranch will get 100 per cent solar and wind generation rights, 25 per cent of mineral rights, and own cattle and horses already on the property. It sounds like an outstanding investment, but has Taylor Sheridan really gone through with the deal?
The 6666 Ranch would be a home from home for Sheridan, who grew up on a ranch in Cranfills Gap, Texas. Taylor has become one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed Western movie makers, so let’s discover if he’s gone back to his roots.

Did Taylor Sheridan buy the iconic 6666 Ranch?
As per The Texas Spur, Taylor Sheridan is the new owner of the legendary 6666 Ranch. Westerns filmmaker Taylor Sheridan has hit jackpot – he can now shoot whatever he likes on the 266,000-acre property.
The property has had iconic status since Samuel Burnett purchased it in 1870. It will be the first time a member of the Burnett family hasn’t owned the property since then.
The will of Anne Windfohr Marion (Samuels Burnett’s great-granddaughter who died in February 2020) requested the ranch be sold. It is now in the hands of Sheridan, who thinks it vital to keep in mind “Miss Marion’s vision” and the “rich heritage” of the ranch.
Who better to sell it to than a Western-lover through and through, although it seems likely Sheridan hasn’t bought the property alone. According to The Texas Spur: “Sheridan is the face of the buyer group,” likely because the three divisions were listed for sale at a whopping $341.7 million.

That’s right, it has three divisions and, to really get the scale of 6666 Ranch, it is larger than San Antonio, almost twice the size of Chicago, and six times bigger than Brooklyn.
Taylor Sheridan declined to comment on his involvement in the ranch purchase, adding: “I can’t comment on a pending transaction but I will say this: the legacy of the 6666 Ranch and Miss Marion’s vision for the ranch is vital not only to the ranch itself but the rich heritage of ranching in Texas.”
