Rangers are looking to appoint Giovanni van Bronckhorst as their new boss – and Neil McCann could end up joining him at Ibrox.
Rangers lost Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa last week, meaning they now need to move quickly to find a new manager.
Van Bronckhorst has emerged as the leading contender, but Rangers want him to appoint a Scottish coach.
The Times claim that Rangers believe Van Bronckhorst needs an experienced Scottish coach working alongside him.
Three names mentioned in the report are Billy Dodds, Barry Ferguson and Neil McCann, all of whom are ex-Rangers players.
McCann played with Van Bronckhorst at Rangers, sometimes even linking up down the left flank at Ibrox.
McCann has earned praise as a pundit for Sky Sports, and spent around 18 months in charge of Dundee between 2017 and 2018.

That coaching experience may be what Rangers are seeking, and Gers fans believe McCann is the perfect man for the job.
Some Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that McCann has ‘got to be’ the man for the job, stating he ‘surely’ fits the bill.
Others are begging Rangers to bring McCann back, suggesting that he is the ‘perfect’ candidate to help Van Bronckhorst.
