Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has told the club that he will be leaving the club in 2022 despite last-gasp plea from boss Mikel Arteta.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Nketiah has made his final decision and will leave Arsenal.
Nketiah’s £45,000-a-week contract expires at the end of the season after almost seven years at Arsenal.
It’s claimed that Arsenal boss Arteta made a last-ditch attempt to convince Nketiah into staying at the Emirates Stadium.
Unfortunately for Arteta, Nketiah has decided he wants to go and has told Arsenal that he will be on his way.
Arsenal can now look to sell Nketiah in a cut-price deal in January, or watch Nketiah walk away in the summer.
Arsenal would still be entitled to pay compensation for Nketiah if he runs his contract all the way down.
Nketiah has been branded ‘complete’ by Marcelo Bielsa and ‘extraordinary’ by Arteta, and will now look to show that elsewhere.

This decision isn’t a huge shock; Nketiah hasn’t played a single minute of Premier League football this season.
Arteta has only put Nketiah on the bench once in the league this term, with the 22-year-old in danger of stalling at Arsenal.
Nketiah has now made it clear that he wants to leave Arsenal, at least giving the Gunners some time to plan.
