Rangers are chasing a quick managerial appointment to replace Steven Gerrard, and few could blame Fashion Sakala for hoping that Alexander Blessin gets the job.
The Gers were rocked on Thursday as boss Gerrard left the club to take over at Premier League side Aston Villa.
Rangers weren’t anticipating a managerial search any time soon, but now have to move rapidly to replace Gerrard.
One manager Rangers appear to fancy is Alexander Blessin, with The Daily Record claiming interest in the Oostende boss.
Blessin, a former RB Leipzig youth coach, has impressed in charge of Belgian side Oostende.
The 48-year-old now appears to be an option for Rangers, mostly as a backup target if Giovanni van Bronckhorst doesn’t join.
One man at Rangers may actually hope that Blessin gets the job and not Van Bronckhorst is Fashion Sakala.
Sakala spent one season playing under Blessin at Oostende – and what a season it turned out to be.

The Zambian hitman bagged 16 goals in 34 games under Blessin – more than his prior two seasons without the German combined.
Sakala highlighted Blessin’s influence when speaking to Sport Magazine, stating that Blessin told him he had a ‘great plan’ for his development.
Sakala trusted Blessin and reaped the rewards, meaning a reunion could work very well for the now-Rangers striker.
It looks like Van Bronckhorst is the favourite, but few would begrudge Sakala hoping that he gets to work with Blessin once again.
