Steven Gerrard’s former teammate Frank Lampard wants to become the new manager of Ibrox club Rangers, according to The Herald.

What’s the story?

Rangers are on the hunt for a new manager following Gerrard’s departure to Aston Villa.

The Herald has claimed that Lampard and former Rangers star Giovanni van Bronckhorst are the two leading candidates for the Ibrox job.

It has been claimed that former Chelsea and Derby County boss Lampard is ‘interested’ in becoming the new manager of Rangers.

The 43-year-old, a former England international teammate of Gerrard, is reportedly ‘vying with van Bronckhorst’ for the Rangers managerial role.

Frank Lampard would be blockbuster at Rangers

Lampard guided Derby County to the Championship playoff final.

And then the Englishman led Chelsea to the Premier League top four.

Lampard is one of the biggest names in world football.

And he would be a blockbuster appointment for Rangers.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United manager Harry Redknapp has told The Scottish Sun that the Englishman would be “perfect” for Rangers.

Lampard has a decent amount of first-team football management experience, and he would know what’s expected at Rangers.
