Ibrox club Rangers could appoint Neil McCann as their interim-manager if a deal with Gers target Giovanni van Bronckhorst cannot be agreed soon, according to The Daily Record.
What’s the story?
The Daily Record are reporting that Rangers want to appoint Van Bronckhorst as their new manager.
The Dutchman held talks with the Rangers hierarchy this morning, according to Sky Sports.
The Gers are looking for a manager to replace Steven Gerrard, who has left for Aston Villa.
The Rangers first team are due back next week for training.
The Daily Record have reported that if a deal with Van Bronckhorst cannot be agreed by the time training starts, then Brian Gilmour and David McCallum are likely to take the sessions.
The report has claimed that former Rangers winger McCann is ‘a potential stopgap’.

Sensible from Rangers
Now, we do know that it can take time for agreements to be reached over contracts.
Just because Van Bronckhorst is in the UK now for talks does not mean negotiations will be done soon.
It would be sensible of Rangers to consider McCann as a potential stop-gap.
The 47-year-old played for Rangers from 1998 until 2003 and has management experience with Dundee.
McCann now work as a pundit for Rangers TV, which means that he closely follows the team and is aware of what needs to be done right now.
