Did Morgan Wallen win a CMA award?

No, Morgan didn’t win an award at the 2021 CMA Awards.

His album ‘Dangerous: The Double Album’ was nominated for album of the year but the award went to Chris Stapleton’s ‘Starting Over’.

As per Billboard, even if Morgan had won in this category, he wouldn’t be able to attend the ceremony and accept the award on stage.

The country star was banned from attending the event this year following public backlash.

Why did he get a ban?

As reported by TMZ in February this year, Morgan was seen using a racial slur in a video. The footage went viral on social media and received widespread criticism for the offensive language.

The country star apologised for his comments and said in a statement at the time: “I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever.”

In May 2021, the CMA Awards revealed that while Morgan was allowed to receive a nod in the album category, he wouldn’t be eligible for nominations in individual categories.

In September, it was reported that the country star wouldn’t be able to attend or perform at the 2021 CMA Awards.

Fans react to Morgan’s absence

Many of Morgan’s fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts about the country star’s absence from the event this year.

“Morgan Wallen should be winning every award at the CMA’s twice tonight. He deserves album of the year, two times. No one else in modern country music has created an album as strong as “DANGEROUS” much less, a double album,” tweeted one fan.

“No matter who “wins” tonight, we all know that @MorganWallen is the actual entertainer of the year,” wrote another one.

“The crowd when they just said Morgan Wallen’s name……uhhhh yeah lol,” added someone else.
