AC Milan have resumed contact with the agent of Stade Brest star Romain Faivre and could complete a January transfer for the reported Newcastle United target, per Sportmediaset.
Rossoneri Technical Director Paolo Maldini and Sporting Director Frederic Massara are hard at work preparing to reinforce Stefano Pioli’s squad.
The San Siro natives have started the Serie A season strongly and remain unbeaten after 12 games. They sit second in the table and have a seven-point lead over title-holders Inter, but trail Napoli on goal difference.

Milan view Faivre as a piece of their puzzle that could potentially lead to a first Scudetto in a decade. And have resumed contact with the Brest midfielder’s agent to discuss a move.
Faivre was one step away from joining Milan in the summer transfer window, but stayed in France. He has since scored four goals and provided four assists in 12 Ligue 1 outings.
Two of his assists also came against Paris Saint-Germain, albeit in a 4-2 defeat. Catching the attention of not only Milan, but also Newcastle with the Toon admiring Faivre’s ability.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who recently claimed Newcastle are very interested in a transfer for Faivre and have the economic capabilities to blow Milan out of the water. He also has suitors in a number of European clubs, and is valued at €15m-18m (£13m-15.5m).
But the Toon and Rossoneri may not need to break the bank to acquire the 23-year-old. As Sportmediaset note Brest could sell Faivre in January for just €10m (£8.5m) before add-ons.

Should Newcastle rival Milan for transfer of Brest star Faivre in January?
Milan’s path to signing Faivre from Brest in the January transfer market may also be harder than Newcastle’s. As Sportmediaset note the Rossoneri could close the midfielder’s arrival if Samu Castillejo leaves the San Siro first.
The Toon could seize on Castillejo’s future being in limbo to hand Eddie Howe a promising midfielder by striking a deal with Brest first.
Faivre’s efforts so far this season are close to matching his haul from the entire 2020/21 campaign. He offered six goals and five assists in 36 Ligue 1 outings as one of the division’s breakout talents. Earning the admiration of his former boss Olivier Dall’Oglio.
“He’s a boy with real potential,” Dall’Oglio said, via Ligue1.com. “He’s comfortable on the ball, and fast in possession, he’s got great vision too – he’s got something special.
“He rarely loses the ball, he can break through the lines by dribbling, and his passing creates so many chances for us.”
