Is Francisco Trincao leaving Wolves? New Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has asked the club to terminate Trincao’s loan spell at the Premier League outfit in the January transfer window, as reported by Record.
After replacing the embattled Ronald Koeman in the searing Camp Nou hot seat, it makes sense Xavi would want a closer look at every player at his disposal.
Trincao is one of a number of big-money Barcelona signings who may be given the chance to kick-start their Blaugrana career under the former Spain international.
And Lionel Messi’s heart-wrenching, tear-jerking departure has opened a gap on the right side of the attack for a player who loves to cut inside on to his favoured left boot.
“Trincao is an incredible player with lots of character and remarkable quality,” former Braga teammate Abel Ruiz said last year.
“He’s a great dribbler. He can go past his man either side – on the right, on the left – and he’s got a very good shot. He’s a complete player.
“I’d say he’s similar to Messi.”
Is Francisco Trincao leaving Wolves to rejoin Barcelona?
21-year-old Trincao joined Wolves on loan in the summer and the Premier League outfit have a £25 million option-to-buy clause in his contract (Goal).

As of yet, however, Trincao has done little to justify such an outlay, failing to produce a goal or assist in eight league games under Bruno Lage.
The Portugal international was hauled off after 68 ineffective minutes in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Crystal Palace, failing to emulate the impact of fellow Iberians Diogo Jota and Pedro Neto at Molineux.
It remains to be seen how Wolves feel about cutting ties with Trincao after just half a season in the Black Country. But with Neto expected to return from long-term injury in early 2022, Trincao could find regular football increasingly hard to come by at Wolves unless he finds his form – and fast.
