Stiliyan Petrov has claimed that Rangers coach Michael Beale, who could be part of Steven Gerrard’s backroom staff at Aston Villa, is an ‘incredible’ coach and a ‘powerful communicator’, as he posted on Twitter.
The former Aston Villa midfielder was reacting to a post about the backroom staff Gerrard could bring from Rangers to the Midlands.
It seems as though Villa are on the brink of making Gerrard their new manager, and if he does arrive, then the likes of Beale, who worked with him at Ibrox, will more than likely join him in the Premier League.
Although it’s not certain because, when Dean Smith joined Villa, Thomas Frank, who was part of his backroom staff, stayed at Brentford – now he’s managing them in the Premier League.
Sky Sports report that Villa have made Gerrard their number one target to replace the sacked Smith and he is interested in talking about the vacant role.
If Gerrard does indeed swap Glasgow for the Midlands, then those individuals who he brings with him will be as important as him.
The legendary English midfielder helped Rangers win the Scottish Premiership title last season by ending Celtic’s near ten-year dominance.
Some will argue that it’s a little too early for him to move to Villa Park and he should stay at Ibrox for at least another season.
But it seems as though Gerrard just couldn’t turn down that chance to manage a club the size of Villa in the Premier League, even if Rangers fans are disappointed at him possibly leaving.
