Campaigner for girls’ education and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, 24-year-old Malala Yousafzai announced her marriage to Asser Malik via social media on 9 November 2021.
@malala took to both Instagram and Twitter with details of her wedding:
“Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.”
Malala has since become a global icon for women’s rights.

According to Asser Malik‘s LinkedIn profile, the newlywed is currently serving as the General Manager High Performance at Pakistan Cricket Board.
Asser is from Lahore District, Punjab, Pakistan, as per his location listed on the platform.
Described as an entrepreneur with a demonstrated history of working in the sports industry, the General Manager joined his current organisation in May 2020.
Ahead of his career, he received a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science in 2012 from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
Although incomparable to his wife’s social media following of more than two million users, @asser.malik has over 5,000 followers on Instagram.
Malik also took to Instagram to share a wedding photograph of himself Malala, captioned with a simple red-heart emoji.
