Newcastle United came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, with Jacob Murphy impressing some Toon fans reacting on social media.
Leandro Trossard put the Seagulls ahead 24-minutes into the Amex Stadium affair from the penalty spot. But Isaac Hayden drew the Magpies level from 10-yards on 66-minutes.
David Coote awarded Brighton a penalty midway through the first-half for a foul by Ciaran Clark on Trossard after consulting with VAR Craig Pawson. Deeming the Newcastle centre-back to have made enough contact with the Belgian’s knee while holding his shirt.

Brighton started the better of the two sides and had chances to extend their lead before Hayden drew Newcastle level. Firing home with the Magpies’ first shot on target all game.
Allan Saint-Maximin worked the ball down the left-wing to Matt Ritchie, who lifted the ball into the area. Clark won his header at the back post and the ball fell kindly to Hayden, who reacted first to stab home.
Newcastle had a late chance to win the game when Callum Wilson broke through on goal.
But Brighton stopper Robert Sanchez clipped the £20m striker, earning a red card as the last man. Yet still saving the Seagulls from falling behind, as they held on to take a point.

Newcastle fans laud Murphy efforts at Brighton
But despite Hayden’s goal saving Newcastle from ending the day bottom of the Premier League table, some Toon fans praised Murphy’s efforts throughout the full Brighton match.
That’s because they admired the 26-year-old’s efforts on his return to the starting line-up. Graeme Jones had overlooked Murphy in each of his previous games as interim boss, while Steve Bruce had also not started the £25k-a-week ace since the third fixture of the term.
So, here are some of the messages Newcastle fans shared on Murphy’s efforts as the £12m signing from Norwich City in 2017 featured at right-back against Brighton on Saturday…
