West Ham’s Tomas Soucek has stated that he started supporting Arsenal because of his ‘hero’ Tomas Rosicky, as he told Sky Sports.
The Czech Republic international was waxing-lyrical about his fellow countryman and how great he was during his days at Arsenal.
Rosicky spent 10 years in Arsenal colours and was an underrated figure during his days at the Emirates.
Albeit a more creative and forward-thinking player compared to his countryman, he probably falls under the underappreciated bracket, just like Soucek does at West Ham.
The hard-hitting midfielder is one part of David Moyes’s engine room, a disciplined midfielder that has a great knack for making late goalscoring runs into the penalty area.
Nonetheless, this is what Soucek had to say about Rosicky’s time, both in the Premier League and when he was repping the colours of his country.
“Yes, I support, and it’s what I said about my hero, Tomas Rosicky,” said Soucek.
“I support him at Arsenal and I support them like a team because when I was in my childhood they were one of the best, so I support them.
“He was the best at Arsenal, even on the international stage and his ability was incredible because of how he can turn and switch the play. Pass and create chances, for me, it was entertaining.”

During the days Soucek would have been following Arsenal in an avid fashion, they would have just come out of one of their greatest ever periods in their history.
Not many would have predicted such a decline for one of England’s greatest sides, with the Hammers finishing above them last season.
At this moment in time, it’s looking likely that could happen again, but Mikel Arteta’s side are now starting to show some promise and real progression.
Both Arsenal and West Ham are due to meet next month, with the duo recording a 3-3 draw last season, which Soucek scored in.
