Luka Jovic wants to leave Real Madrid amid interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, according to Defensa Central.

What’s the story?

Defensa Central are reporting that Jovic, linked with a move to Arsenal, is seriously considering leaving Madrid.

The 23-year-old striker is struggling for playing time at Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti, who returned to Madrid in the summer of 2021 after leaving Everton, does not want the striker to go.

However, the Italian tactician will not force the Serbia international striker to stay if he does not want to.

Defensa Central reported last month that Arsenal manager Arteta wants to sign Jovic.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

Luka Jovic to Arsenal?

Arsenal are doing well at the moment.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is scoring goals, and Alexandre Lacazette is affecting games as a substitute.

You could argue that the Gunners do not need to sign a striker…

At the moment.

However, we need to look to the future as well.

Aubameyang is in his early 30s now, and Lacazette is out of contract at the end of the season.

Jovic is only 23, and the fact that Madrid signed him from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019 shows how good he can be.

Lionel Messi described Jovic as “a magical player who makes the impossible possible” in SportBible in September 2020.

That is some praise.
