Niklas Sule’s agent has rubbished reports linking the Bayern Munich defender with a shock switch to Premier League strugglers Newcastle United, while speaking to the Meine Bayern Woche podcast.
With gossip at an all-time high at St James’ Park, figuring out the truth from the nonsense is proving to be more difficult than ever.
Are Newcastle actually interested in Philippe Coutinho? Are they really going to make Ousmane Dembele the best-paid player in their history?
Thankfully, Sule’s agent has made our lives that little bit easier, insisting that speculation linking Sule with a move to St James’ Park is just that – speculation.
“No, there were no talks (with Newcastle),” said Volker Struth, translated by the Bavarian Football Works website.
“And, regarding Newcastle United, an investor took over there that allegedly makes them the richest club in the world, so there will be rumours every week. Now it’s Sule, soon maybe (Kingsley) Coman or even (Erling) Haaland.”
Will Niklas Sule leave Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich?
What cannot be disputed, however, is that Sule is facing an uncertain future at Bayern, despite winning the 2020 Champions League, four Bundesliga titles and a bucketful of other trophies during his time at the Allianz Arena.
Sule, who joined FC Hollywood’s all-star cast in a £17.5 million deal from Hoffenheim, is due to become a free agent next year and – as is the case with Coman and Corentin Tolisso – little headway has been made on a new contract.
“Of course, we have to get into a decision-making process now. There’s no final decision yet,” added Struth.
“Everything is open. Will he extend? Niklas has to decide that. Talks are needed for information and they will take place in the next few weeks.
“Niklas will tell us what he wants and if the talks fell through, we will have to talk to other clubs at some point.”
